Volunteer

One of greatest gifts you can give is time.

Volunteers are critical to the success of Healing Reins! 

There are many opportunities to volunteer with Healing Reins. From assisting during lessons to helping run a successful fundraiser, our volunteers can do it all! We want to make sure that our opportunities provide the perfect role for you. If you have a special talent or interest, let us know.

Program Volunteers assist during Adaptive Lessons, Reading with Rocky, or the Healing Reins Mobile Experience as one of the following:

  • Horse Leader

    A horse leader is responsible for the horse during riding lessons. Horse leaders may be required to groom and tack the horse. Walking and jogging during lessons for 20-30 minutes is to be expected.

    Orientation and hands-on training is required.

  • Side-Walker

    A side-walker is responsible for the safety of the rider during riding lessons. They relay information and directions from the instructor to the rider. This activity may require up to 20 minutes of walking or jogging and specific hand holds to assist the rider. We prefer you commit to a scheduled participant(s) for the entire session.

    Orientation, hands-on training and a skills test is required.

  • Fundraising

    Volunteers that assist in the planning and execution of special fundraisers or events. These volunteers may serve on an event committee.

    Orientation is highly recommended.

  • Special Skills

    Volunteers that wish to donate their professional skills, time and expertise in a specific field. This may include serving on a specific committee.

    Orientation is highly recommended.

  • Wrangler

    A wrangler assists the instructor during Adaptive lessons. Wranglers may be asked to set up the arena, assist with grooming and tacking, and assist the participant during lessons.

    Orientation, hands-on training and a skills test is required.

Note: Volunteers must have a volunteer application on file. Healing Reins may conduct background checks on any volunteer, at any time, for any reason. Please make sure to carefully read our Volunteer Manual, as volunteers are expected to know and follow our guidelines.
